Previously operating on the Dhaka–Chattogram route, the train’s service has been extended to Cox’s Bazar to facilitate travel for passengers from Feni and other areas along the route.
Road Transport and Bridges, Shipping and Railways Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam formally inaugurated the extended service at Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital on Monday. State Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Railways Habibur Rashid, Bangladesh Railway Director General Afzal Hossain and other officials were present.
Feni district BNP Joint Convener Anwar Hossain Patwary said local residents had long been demanding the opportunity to travel to Cox’s Bazar by train from Feni.
He expressed gratitude to the railway minister and local MP Rafiqul Alam Majnu for fulfilling the long-standing demand.
