During the summit, the two prime ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, expand trade and investment, and enhance cooperation in key sectors, alongside regional and international issues.

Earlier, Takaichi welcomed Tarique Rahman at the Kantei, where the Bangladesh premier was accorded a guard of honour by a contingent of Japan’s armed forces, accompanied by the national anthems of the two countries.

Following the ceremonial proceedings, the two leaders introduced members of their respective delegations to each other before proceeding to the summit meeting.

Tarique Rahman arrived in Tokyo on Monday morning. He was received at Narita International Airport by Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Yasutaka Nakasone.

During his visit, the Bangladesh premier is also scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Forum and meet Japanese business leaders.
