BNP has
submitted the nomination papers of a candidate for the women’s reserved seat in
the national parliament, following the resignation of Ferdousi Ahmed Misty.
BNP candidate
Eliza Zaman submitted nomination papers for the parliamentary seat 323 at the
Election Commission on Monday. She is set to win the by-election to the seat
uncontested as the seat is reserved for BNP’s women leaders, and the party has
fielded only one candidate.
The
by-election is scheduled to be held on 12 November.
As per the
election schedule, the last date for candidacy withdrawal is 1 November.
After
submitting her nomination papers on Monday, Eliza Zaman expressed her gratitude
to Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman for picking her for the
by-election to seat no 323.
Earlier, on
1 October, Misty stepped down as a lawmaker in the seat on the PM’s orders over
her alleged involvement in the vandalism of Radda Health Centre in Mirpur.
