The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday petitioned a Dhaka court to show Diamond World Managing Director Dilip Kumar Agarwala arrested in a case over allegedly acquiring wealth beyond his known sources of income, citing the need to ensure a proper investigation.
ACC Assistant Director and investigation officer Sajjad Hossain filed the petition with the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court, court sources said.
The court set 2 November for a hearing on the petition in the presence of Agarwala, the sources added.
According to the petition, Agarwala allegedly acquired and possessed assets worth Tk112.47 crore that were inconsistent with his known sources of income through dishonest means.
He was also accused of carrying out transactions totalling Tk755.30 crore through 34 bank accounts, involving deposits of Tk385.32 crore and withdrawals of Tk369.97 crore. The transactions allegedly involved the transfer, conversion and concealment of money.
A case was filed over the allegations on 8 October 2025 under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and Sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.
The petition stated that Agarwala was already in jail following his arrest in a money laundering case filed with Gulshan Police Station. The ACC said showing him arrested in the latest case was necessary to ensure a proper investigation.
