Captain (retd) AKM Golam Kibria has called upon world leaders
to build a new world civilisation based on human equity, justice and human
dignity.
“Don’t write the history of power, write the history of
human liberation,” said Golam Kibria, also the founder of Dr Mostafa-Hazera
Foundation and Chairman of MH Global Group.
He made this call at the 19th annual conference of the “Alliance
of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL)” held at the DC 37 Main Union Hall in
Manhattan of New York recently. The organisers confirmed the matter to the
Daily Sun through e-mail.
The conference was attended by US Congress members Grace
Meng, Thomas R Suozzi, New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea
Stewart-Cousins, Attorney General Letitia James and New York City Council
Speaker Julie Menin, along with Senators from various states, labour leaders
and civil rights activists.
In his speech, Captain Kibria presented his proposed concept
of “Human Equity Civilization.” He said, more important than running a state or
gaining power is to remove poverty, deprivation and helplessness from human
life.
Addressing world leaders, he said, “Don’t just be a leader
of a state, be a leader of humanity. Leave behind a legacy where the history of
human liberation will be far more glorious than the memory of power.”
Captain Kibria said, “Build a world free from suffering for the next generation.” According to him, the progress of world civilisation should be measured not only by economic growth, but also by how much human suffering has been reduced.
