BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday accused Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar of spreading falsehoods and disinformation to embarrass the current government.
He made the allegation while taking part in a dengue awareness leaflet distribution programme in Fakirapul in the capital on Saturday morning.
Rizvi alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami had an understanding with the Awami League, which has been ousted from power and whose activities have been banned. He claimed that the BNP had already presented relevant documents and evidence to support its allegation.
The BNP leader warned that the people would not accept any attempt to create a fresh situation of anarchy in the country.
He said the government was working responsibly for public welfare, ignoring disinformation and incitement from its opponents.
Highlighting the government's achievements, Rizvi said Bangladesh was in a better position than neighbouring India and Pakistan in the Global Hunger Index, describing it as a reflection of the government's sound policies.
BNP Joint Secretary General and MP Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, volunteer affairs secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Swechchhasebak Dal vice-president Dr Zahidur Rahman, Chhatra Dal vice-president Dr Touhidur Rahman Aowal and leaders and activists from different levels of the party attended the leaflet distribution programme.
