Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu was taken to Dhaka on Thursday for advanced treatment after being admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) with anaemia.
He was taken by ambulance to Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi at around 8:00am and was scheduled to receive treatment at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), formerly known as PG Hospital.
Nazmul Haque Diken, the minister’s assistant private secretary, confirmed the development.
He said Minu had been feeling unwell for several days before his condition deteriorated on Wednesday morning, prompting his hospitalisation. He received three bags of blood before doctors decided to transfer him to Dhaka for further treatment.
Despite his illness, the minister has remained in contact with local BNP leaders and activists, providing them with instructions from his hospital bed.
Minu attended a public rally at the historic Madrasa Maidan in Rajshahi on Tuesday. His condition worsened the following day, and he was admitted to hospital. He had previously travelled to Singapore for medical treatment.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday evening, the minister sought prayers for his recovery, expressing hope that he would soon return to public service.
