The Rangamati district administration has temporarily closed Sajek Valley tourism centre in Baghaichhari upazila from 7pm on Wednesday until further notice, citing the overall safety of tourists, according to a public notice issued on 21 October.
The notice, signed by Rangamati District Magistrate Nazma Ashrafi, was issued at 8pm on Wednesday. It said the tourism centre would reopen once the situation returned to normal.
Tourists currently staying in the Sajek tourism area have been instructed to leave by 4pm on Thursday, 22 October, and return safely to their respective destinations.
The latest closure comes just days after the tourism centre reopened following an earlier suspension.
On 11 October, the Rangamati district administration temporarily closed Sajek Valley for unavoidable reasons and instructed tourists to leave by 5pm on 13 October.
The administration later issued a new notice on 15 October, allowing tourists to visit the area from 16 to 21 October on the occasion of Durga Puja.
However, the tourism centre has once again been closed only days after reopening.
