There is no
legal bar on MPO-listed teachers to join as candidates in the upcoming local
government elections, said Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Monday.
The
minister made the remark after inaugurating a new building at the Jhenidah
Primary Teacher Training Centre in Jhenidah.
MPO-listed teachers of non-government schools can take part in the local government elections the same way they always have in the past, the minister told reporters.
The
government is optimistic about arranging fair and wonderful local government elections,
he said urging all to have faith in the authorities.
When asked
about Ishraque Hossain’s resignation from the cabinet, the law minister said
that the prime minister will take the ultimate decision if someone goes against
people’s expectations. No one is above the law, he added.
Earlier in
the morning, Md Asaduzzaman attended as the chief guest at a meeting of the
management committee of Jhenidah 250-bed General Hospital.
