Former addl secretary found dead at Officers’ Club

A former additional secretary was found dead at an under-construction building inside the Officers’ Club in Ramna, Dhaka, on Friday.

Police recovered the body of Md Mosharraf Hossain around 11:45am that day.

According to sources at the Officers’ Club, Mosharraf Hossain entered the club with his younger daughter around 10am. He later left his daughter at the swimming pool in front of an under-construction building and went inside the building.

About an hour later, his body was found beside a staircase on the ground floor.

Mosharraf, who was a member of the club, lived with his family in a house in Banani.

Family sources said his elder daughter lives in the United States. His burial will be held after she returns to Bangladesh.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Ramna Division) Sheikh Zahidul Islam said the former additional secretary went to the swimming pool with his younger daughter in the morning.

“He had poor eyesight. He fell from the second floor of the building into an open space on the ground floor. We conducted an inquest at the scene,” he said.

Zahidul said the body would be handed over to the family as they did not want an autopsy.
