EC to decide UP election phases and schedule on Monday

The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting on Monday to decide the phases and schedule of the upcoming Union Parishad (UP) elections.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:30am, with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin in the chair.

The agenda includes local government elections, delegation of administrative and financial powers to officials of the National Identity Registration Wing and other relevant issues, said a letter signed by EC Deputy Secretary Md Shah Alam.

The commission will also discuss machine maintenance, card printing, outstanding bills and new contracts at the Personalisation Centre, as well as the draft National Election Award Policy 2025.

On Thursday, Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said the commission would decide the phases and dates of the UP elections at Monday's meeting.

He said district election officers would announce the election schedules at the field level, while the commission would determine the phases.

He also expressed hope that all phases of the elections would be completed within the previously announced timeframe.
