The Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Saturday announced the
suspension of two Riyadh flights until further notice owing to “unavoidable
operational circumstances.”
“Biman Bangladesh Airlines regrets to inform all valued
passengers that King Khaled International Airport, Riyadh, has suspended all
flights towards it. As such, Biman's scheduled Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka flights,
BG339 and BG340, have been suspended until further notice,” it said in a press
release.
Passengers booked on these flights are advised not to
proceed to the airport, it added.
The Biman suspension follows a major Houthi attack on the
Riyadh airport on Saturday that prompted Saudi authorities to cancel all
flights, and drew sharp travel warnings from Western embassies.
“Biman management is actively analysing the situation, and a
comprehensive update regarding the rescheduling or status of these flights will
be officially communicated on Sunday,” the press release read.
“Biman Bangladesh Airlines sincerely apologises for the
unexpected disruption and the profound inconvenience this suspension causes to
our passengers and their families.
“Affected passengers may contact the Biman call center or
visit their nearest Biman sales office for immediate assistance. Further
updates will also be posted on our official website and communication channels
as it becomes available,” the press release said.
