National Parliament Whip and Natore-2 lawmaker Advocate M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu today said the fascist Awami League government deliberately destroyed the country's education system in a planned manner and pushed the nation backward.

"The quality of education had been made a subject of mockery during the Awami League government's tenure and the nation was pushed backward by weakening its education system," he said.

He said this as the chief guest at a reception ceremony held at Jhautala Mariam School in Patuapara here.

The Whip said the current government has stopped irregularities and arbitrary practices in the education sector. "Now, students must achieve success on the basis of their studies and merit," he said.

He further said the BNP government was prioritizing educational development and has allocated the highest amount of funds to the sector in this fiscal year.

Urging vigilance, he mentioned that a certain group was attempting to destabilize Bangladesh from a neighboring country.

Dulu also called upon everyone to help ensuring peace, coexistence and religious harmony among people of all faiths, including Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Buddhists.

Head teacher of Mariam School Sister Shilpi Perera presided over the event.

BNP Lawmaker Anna Minj, Father Dino Giacominnelli, district BNP Joint Conveners Mostafizur Rahman Shaheen and Saiful Islam Aftab, former municipal mayor Kazi Shah Alam, and Emdadul Haque Al Mamun addressed the programme.
