GD filed as BracU receives bomb attack threat

Brac University authorities have received a bomb attack threat, which was issued to the university authorities through an email.

A general diary (GD) has been filed with Badda police station in this regard.

The university authorities received the email containing the threat around 6:44pm on Monday.

The email, sent from the [email protected] email address, threatened to launch a bomb attack on the university around 11am on Tuesday.

Targeting everyone associated with the university, the email said, “I will launch a mass bomb attack on Brac University located at Kha-224, Pragati Sarani, Dhaka-1212, Bangladesh.”

“If you can identify my face, then remember that you will not be able to stop what is going to happen. The attack will be launched around 11am on 6 October.”

Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan said, “Brac University authorities have lodged a GD with Badda police station in this regard. The matter is being investigated by the cyber unit of the Detective Branch (DB). These threats have no substance.”

Asked about the issue, Brac University authorities said they have received a threat from an anonymous source and are taking the matter very seriously.
