Three die with measles symptoms, 1,218 suspected cases recorded in 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded three more deaths with measles-like symptoms and 1,218 new suspected cases in the past 24 hours, the country's health authorities said on Sunday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 82 cases of measles were confirmed between 8am Saturday and 8am Sunday, with no confirmed deaths during the same period.

The DGHS said that since 15 March, the total number of confirmed measles cases has stood at 21,748, while suspected cases have reached 196,418.

During the same period, 102 people died from confirmed measles, while 1,023 deaths were reported among suspected cases, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,125.

Besides, a total of 166,908 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS said.
