Govt forms three-member committee to probe Mirpur lift accident

The Ministry of Housing and Public Works has formed a three-member committee to investigate Friday's lift accident at Paikpara Government Quarters in Mirpur, while expressing regret over the incident.

Ministry’s Joint Secretary Abul Baker Md Touhid has been made convener of the committee, while Prof Mahbub Alam of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET and Public Works Department Executive Engineer Abdullah Al Mamun made its member, said a press release issued today.

The committee has been asked to ascertain whether proper rules and procedures were being followed in the maintenance and management of the lift, investigate the causes of the accident and identify those responsible.

It has been asked to submit its report to the secretary of the ministry within seven working days.
