Journalist
Zulkarnain Saer has urged the BNP government to take the country’s
deteriorating law and order situation under its control while it still has the
capacity to do so.
The government
is capable enough to bring under its control the country’s security situation, which
still appears manageable, and only needs to demonstrate the “highest possible
sincerity” to resolve the crisis, the journalist added in a Facebook post
published Sunday.
The
solutions, according to Saer, are the formation of a specific chain of command
and central leadership at all affiliated organisations of the ruling BNP
through an ethics-based, bribe-free and transparent process.
He
published the post following the vandalism and looting at content creator
Salman Muqtadir’s studio at ECB chattar in the capital, the second such
incident in the space of only 24 hours.
The
incidents had the same contributing factors – political muscle power and weak
law enforcement morale among security forces – for which the government already
has the “necessary keys,” Saer wrote in the post.
Both the
vandalisms were also driven by a desire to grab lands, Saer added.
An organized group
demolished and looted a health centre in Mirpur, Saer said. The feeble and
government-fearing law enforcement agencies in the area remained inactive
despite knowing everything that was happening.
Just
24 hours later, the same scene was witnessed again at Salman Muqtadir’s studio.
Across
the country, none of the BNP's affiliated organizations has an effective
committee or a disciplined organizational structure. These include Jatiyatabadi
Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Sramik Dal, among others. As a
result, a single organization often operates in three or four factions in the
same area. Someone who holds a position considers himself a local leader, while
someone without any position also considers himself a leader. One faction does
not control another. Instead, everyone is eager to bring every activity in the
area under their own control. There are no committees and no regular
organizational activities, so the central leadership has little control over
them.
Form committees in all affiliated organizations and bring these
individuals under the party's organizational structure. Send a clear message
that anyone involved in misconduct outside legitimate political activities will
permanently lose their position and membership. More than 20 people are waiting
behind each position. If one person is removed, there will be no shortage of
alternatives. Strictly prohibit all forms of financial transactions related to
selling positions and forming committees.
If
the above issues are taken into consideration and the overall situation is
brought under proper control, the police will also find their job easier in the
second phase.
