A Dhaka court on Sunday set 3 November as the new date for submitting the further probe report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, marking the 20th deferment of the report.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam set the new date after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report within the scheduled time, said prosecution department Sub-Inspector Rokonuzzaman.
Hadi, an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in Dhaka’s Paltan area on 12 December 2025. He died on 18 December while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
On 14 December, Inqilab Moncho member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station over the incident. The case was later converted into a murder case following Hadi’s death.
On 6 January, DB Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigation officer in the case, submitted a charge sheet against 17 accused.
However, on 15 January, the plaintiff filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition, claiming that the charge sheet had omitted the alleged main planners behind the killing.
Subsequently, the court directed the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a further investigation into the case.
