Hanging body of MP Gazi Nazrul’s second wife found at NAM bhaban

The hanging body of Mst Mariam Khatun, the second wife of expelled Jamaat leader and Satkhira-4 lawmaker Gazi Nazrul, was found at an apartment in the capital on Sunday night.

The body of Mariam, 19, was found at Flat No 203 on Building No 5 of the NAM Bhaban complex, confirmed DMP’s Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Ibne Mizan around 7:30pm.

The forensic teams from Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have been called to the spot, Ibn Mizan added.

In July, multiple videos went viral on social media showing Gazi Nazrul with a young girl, whom he later identified as his second wife. On 22 July, Jamaat-e-Islami expelled him from all posts within the party, citing “unethical conduct.”

Since then, he has continued to serve in the Satkhira-4 constituency as an independent lawmaker.
