The Land Ministry has ordered the installation of biometric digital attendance devices at all upazila and union land offices across the country to make land services more efficient, transparent and accountable.
It has also directed the authorities concerned to ensure regular use of the devices by officials and employees of the offices.
The directive was issued in a circular signed by the Field Administration-2 branch of the Land Ministry on 14 September.
Under the circular, deputy commissioners have been asked to install biometric digital attendance devices at all upazila and union land offices in their respective districts and ensure their regular use.
The circular said the government has taken various initiatives, including introducing e-governance, to ensure transparency, accountability and a better working environment in government offices.
As part of the initiatives, steps have been taken to make land management at the field level more efficient and people-friendly, it said.
Regular and timely attendance of officials and employees involved in providing land services is essential to ensure that people receive services without hassle and within the required time, the circular said.
It therefore instructed the authorities to install biometric digital attendance devices immediately at all upazila and union land offices under the Land Ministry.
The authorities concerned have also been asked to ensure that officials and employees regularly use the installed devices.
