ECNEC meeting underway with PM in the chair

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting began at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is presiding over the meeting.

The meeting is the third ECNEC session of the 2026-27 fiscal year and the eighth since the current government took office.

The session is set to be the largest ECNEC meeting during the tenure of the current government, with 16 mega projects involving a total estimated cost of Tk65,517 crore and Tk26 lakh placed for approval.

The projects cover major development initiatives and are being considered at a time when the government is advancing its development programme for the current fiscal year.
