The Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the body of Bangladeshi youth Asadul Haque, who was shot dead by the Indian border force, to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) around 10pm on Sunday, 36 hours after his death.

The body was handed over to the BGB in the border area under the jurisdiction of Jinajpur Border Outpost (BOP) in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon.

Asadul, 38, was the son of Abdul Wazed of South Indrail village in Pirganj.

Early Saturday, Asadul and two other Bangladeshis were shot and injured by the BSF while allegedly attempting to enter India near Border Pillar 333 in the area under the Chandherhat BOP. BSF personnel later rescued them and took them to Kaliaganj State General Hospital in India, where Asadul died while undergoing treatment.

The other two injured Bangladeshis were Mostakim, son of Ahed Ali of North Indrail village, and Shri Uda, son of Narayan. They were also admitted to the hospital with bullet wounds. Indian police later arrested them on charges of illegal entry and sent them to jail.
