MP calls for modernising Sylhet airport

Sylhet-5 Member of Parliament Mufti Mohammad Abul Hasan on Sunday said in the parliament that the government should take immediate steps to modernise and upgrade Sylhet Osmani International Airport and ensure all necessary facilities for passengers and international travellers.

Raising the issue under Rule 71, he drew the attention of the house to the need for comprehensive development of the airport.

Mufti Abul Hasan said that Sylhet airport is an important gateway for the Sylhet region and has particular significance because of the large number of expatriate Bangladeshis connected to the region. So, modern facilities and efficient services at the airport are essential to meet the expectations of passengers and expatriate Bangladeshis.

The MP urged the government to undertake necessary initiatives to modernise the airport and ensure adequate passenger facilities.
