The complainant on Thursday filed a no-confidence (Naraji) petition against a Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) report that found no truth in the allegations brought against actress Tanjin Tisha in a case filed over alleged fraud, breach of trust and threats.
Complainant Sanaya Chowdhury submitted the
petition to the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate
Mohammad Sefatullah through her lawyer.
Complainant’s lawyer Shubhra Sinha Roy Rony
confirmed the development and said the court set 20 October for further hearing
and asked the complainant and three witnesses to appear before it on that day.
Earlier, on 27 November last year, Sanaya
filed the case against Tanjin Tisha before a Dhaka court. The court took
cognisance of the case and ordered the PBI to investigate the allegations.
According to the case statement, Sanaya owns
a fashion house and studio in Gulshan. Tisha allegedly took a sari worth
Tk75,000 from her on 13 December 2024, to wear at an event.
The case statement said Sanaya asked Tisha
several times to return the sari, but she did not do so despite having agreed
to return it.
Later, on 10 November, Tisha allegedly called
Sanaya through Facebook Messenger and threatened to file a case against her and
“humiliate her socially”. Sanaya subsequently filed a general diary with
Gulshan Police Station on 12 November.
The PBI submitted its report to the court on 25
May, stating that it found no truth in the allegations against Tisha, including
fraud, breach of trust and threats.
Earlier, another case was filed against Tisha
for allegedly taking a sari worth around Tk28,800 from an online fashion page
and failing to fulfil a promise to promote the sari and pay for it. Tisha
appeared before the court and secured bail in the case on 13 August.
