Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Wednesday said the Opposition
would get proportionate share of leadership roles in the total 50 parliamentary
standing committees, as mandated under the July Charter, after the charter is
implemented.
The minister made the remark during a Parliamentary session
after the opposition’s deputy leader, Syed Abdullah Md Taher, demanded fair
share of leadership roles in the standing committees.
The fair share of 26% chairmen posts for the Opposition
would be ensured after the July Charter is properly implemented, he said.
The home minister also criticized the opposition for demanding
fair number of chairmen posts, but at the same time, staying away from constitutional
reform committee.
He denied any agreement with Jamaat on the number of such
posts.
