A Dhaka court on Monday placed Jannatul Ferdous Keya, vice-president of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League unit at Bangladesh Institute of Glass and Ceramics, on a two-day police remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed the order after a hearing, said state prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon.
Earlier, Md Masudur Rahman, inspector of the Detective Branch and investigating officer of the case, sought a seven-day remand for questioning.
According to the remand petition, on 18 June, leaders and activists of the banned Awami League, banned Chhatra League and their affiliated bodies brought out a procession near the Mohakhali Bus Terminal area under Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station.
The petition claimed that the investigation found Keya to be an active leader of the banned Chhatra League and an active member of an Awami League Telegram group.
The investigating officer said Keya needed to be interrogated to identify and arrest other accused involved in the incident and to gather information about the incident.
