The third session of the 13th National Parliament is set to commence on Thursday afternoon.
Confirming the matter on Wednesday, Chief Whip Nurul
Islam Moni said formation of parliamentary committees would get highest priority
during the session beginning at 3pm.
Speaking to the media, Moni added the respective
parliamentary committees will be finalised after receiving members’ names from
the opposition party.
The third session might be a short session
consisting of 5, 7 or 10 days. However, the duration might be increased
according to needs, Moni further said.
According to Moni, at least six important bills will
be placed during the session, including property handover, enforced
disappearances and human rights protection related bills.
Speaking about the proposed law relating property
handover, Moni said parents will be able to retain and use their properties throughout
their lifetime even if they write them off to their offspring.
Through this law, the government aims to prevent children
from neglecting their parents after property handover, Moni said.
The chief whip hoped that parliamentary affairs will
get more momentum through the third session.
