Two bombs were discovered and later defused in Demra, Dhaka, on Sunday night.
The bombs were found at a house near Gariber Newaz Mosque Road in the West Boxnagar Nizhumbagh area around 8:30pm, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (Wari Division-Demra Zone) Mohsin Masud said.
He said the discovery came during an investigation into a recent attack on police at Janapad intersection in Jatrabari.
“While conducting a drive to arrest a suspect in the case, police found two bomb-like objects at the house,” he said.
The suspect, identified as Jewel, 25, was also arrested during the drive, the police official said.
A bomb disposal team of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit went to the spot and safely neutralised the two devices.
A CTTC official told the Daily Sun that the devices had medium-level explosive power.
Police said legal action was being taken against the arrested individual.
