A Dhaka court on Friday placed Md Bazlu Mia alias Bazu on a two-day remand and sent his wife Sathi Akter to jail in a case filed over the killing of vegetable trader Emdadul Hawladar Raju in the capital's Hatirjheel area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashraful Haque
passed the order after the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Md Nasim of
Hatirjheel Police Station, produced the accused before the court and sought a
seven-day remand for Bazlu.
According to the case statement, a dispute had
been ongoing between Raju and Bazlu over business transactions.
Investigators said Bazlu allegedly called Raju to
his house on 28 July and stabbed him during an altercation. Raju later died
after being taken to hospital.
A murder case was filed with Hatirjheel Police
Station the following day.
In the remand petition, the investigating officer
said custodial interrogation was necessary to uncover the motive behind the
killing, recover the murder weapon, and identify and arrest the absconding
accused.
