Two organisations
have submitted separate complaints at the International Crimes Tribunal
(ICT) against former presidents and Awami League (AL) leaders Abdul Hamid and
Mohammed Shahabuddin for their alleged complicity in the atrocious crimes of the now banned party.
ICT Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam confirmed that two complaints against the former presidents were submitted, but noted that he was “yet to receive them.”
Bangladesh Azad Party submitted a complaint against both the former presidents for passively supporting the Awami League regime’s atrocious acts during its 15-year rule.
The two
former heads of state cannot avoid responsibility for the crimes including
enforced disappearances, state-backed massacres and murders, alleged Azad Party
Chief Organiser Munshi Borhan Mahmud.
