A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to content creator Tawhid Afridi, son of MyTV Chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi, in a case filed with Wari Police Station over fraud and criminal breach of trust.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam
granted him bail on a Tk1,000 bond after a hearing, defence lawyer Iqbal Mahmud
Shovon confirmed.
"He had already secured bail in two
cases from the High Court and has now obtained bail in another case. There is
no legal bar to his release from jail, as bail has now been granted in all three
cases," the lawyer said.
Earlier, on 24 August 2025, the Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) arrested Tawhid Afridi from Barishal. He was
later shown arrested in multiple cases and was also taken on remand.
According to the case statement, Syeda Ashfah
Tawaha Dyuti filed the case against unnamed accused. She alleged that an online
fraud syndicate contacted the complainant via WhatsApp and Telegram on 13
January 2025, offering a job opportunity.
The fraudsters then persuaded the victim to
invest money in several stages. They gained her trust by returning a small
amount and lured her into making further investments. In this way, they
allegedly misappropriated a total of Tk2.35 lakh from the victim.
Tawhid Afridi was identified as a suspect
during the investigation and was subsequently shown arrested in the case on 15
June, investigators said.
