Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Bangladesh Centre for Air and Space Power Studies (BCASPS) at BAF Base Bashar in Dhaka Cantonment.

The Air Chief unveiled the commemorative plaque of the BCASPS building and planted a tree on its premises, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release issued here this evening.

On the occasion, he also joined a special prayer and munajat.

Following the inauguration, the Air Chief visited various administrative and operational sections of the facility and reviewed its activities.

The BCASPS officially launched its operations and website on 18 January 2026. Since then, the institution has been contributing to research and knowledge generation on air and space power, national security, the strategic environment and defence policy under the overall guidance of the Chief of Air Staff, the release said.

Addressing the ceremony, Hasan Mahmood Khan expressed hope that the dedicated BCASPS building would further enhance the organisation's capacity in research, education and policy-support activities.

The ISPR release said BCASPS has recently been registered with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Among others, Principal Staff Officers of Air Headquarters, the Air Officer Commanding of the Air Defence Operations Centre, Air Officers Commanding of BAF Base Bir Uttam A.K Khandker and BAF Base Bashar, the Commandant of Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), members of the BCASPS Governing Body and senior BAF officers attended the ceremony.
