The ruling and opposition parties should hold talks on an
urgent basis for resolving their differences over the July Charter
implementation, and thereby, deny the fascist forces the chance to capitalise
on disunity, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on
Monday.
Rizvi suggested that there is “no problem” if anything new
is added to the July Charter in line with the opposition’s recommendations.
“If anything new has to be added, what is the problem with
doing so?,” he asked rhetorically.
Riziv, also the prime minister’s political adviser, made the remarks at a seminar held at the International University of Business and Technology (IUBAT)
in Uttara, Dhaka. The event focused on July Uprising, youths and Bangladesh’s bright
prospects.
If a political crisis over the July Charter cannot be avoided,
the ousted and banned fascist force, Awami League, could find an opportunity to
stage a comeback, Rizvi warned.
Armed with huge financial assets as well as “foreign backing,” the fascist force could become strong again, he added.
He urged all concerned to help preserve the current stable
political and security situation in the country.
The country has at least tried to bring some sort of
democracy through the July-August 2024 political upheaval. Following the
uprising, at least a decent general election could be held, Rizvi noted.
Furthermore, the scary environment does not exist anymore
where people were subjected to enforced disappearance or extra-judicial killing
for criticising the government, Rizvi said.
