Thunderstorms, gusty winds forecast in Dhaka, 16 other districts

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds of up to 60 kilometres per hour in Dhaka and 16 other districts by noon.

The met office issued the warning in its forecast for the country’s inland river ports, valid from 5am to 1pm on Monday (20 July).

According to the forecast, rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds from the west or north-west, blowing at speeds of 45-60 km/h, may sweep across Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.

The river ports in these areas have been advised to hoist warning signal No. 1.
