Police allowed six representatives of the protesting HSC students to enter the Secretariat and place their demands around 4:45pm on Wednesday.

The students have entered the Secretariat with six demands, after dropping the call for education minister’s resignation.

The students have also lifted their road blockade in Uttara, awaiting new instructions from the “central leadership.”

The students launched their countrywide protest on Tuesday, calling for the suspension of HSC exams amid inclement weather, and the resignation of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon for his recent critical remarks against the “next-generation students.”

The six demands students are set to place at the Secretariat are:

1)      The HSC candidates willing to sit again for Monday’s exams must be allowed to do so, irrespective of whether took part in the exam.

2)      Those sitting for the same exam twice must be allotted the highest mark among the two.

3)      Students must get full marks for the two faulty questions in the Physics exam, irrespective of whether they attended to the questions or not.

4)      The remaining HSC exams must be held after an interval to allow a “breathing space” for the students following the ongoing tensions.

5)      The question patterns in this year’s exams were radically altered without setting any precedent for the students to take cues from. Evaluators will have to take this factor in mind when giving marks.

6)      Strict and confusing behaviours of some teachers at exam halls must be stopped to save the students unnecessary panic and tensions.
