Two people have been arrested in Cumilla's Debidwar upazila for allegedly allowing a student to assess Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination answer scripts, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Education on Sunday.
The ministry said a video had recently gone viral on social media and was widely reported in the media, showing an examiner assigning one of his students to evaluate answer scripts instead of assessing them himself.
According to the statement, Md Bachchu Mia, senior teacher and acting headmaster of Abdullahpur Haji Amir Ali High School in Debidwar, Cumilla, allegedly allowed his student, Mehedi Hasan, to assess SSC 2026 General Science answer scripts without examining them himself.
After the matter came to light, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon instructed the authorities concerned to take appropriate legal action.
Following the directive, the deputy controller of examinations of the Cumilla Education Board on Saturday filed a case with Debidwar Police Station against Md Bachchu Mia and Mehedi Hasan.
The case was filed under Sections 10, 12 and 13 of the Public Examinations (Offences) Act, 1980.
Police arrested both accused later that night, the ministry added.
