The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has launched a free shuttle bus service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to ensure safe, convenient and comfortable transportation for arriving and departing passengers.

The service, funded by CAAB, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday at a ceremony held in front of the airport's canopy, according to a CAAB press release.

Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Group Captain SM Ragib Samad inaugurated the service as the chief guest.

The press release said the shuttle service has been introduced under the guidance and supervision of the adviser and state minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, as well as the CAAB chairman.

Initially, the buses will operate on routes connecting the airport with the Airport Bus Stand, Jasim Uddin intersection, Airport Railway Station and Kaola, enabling passengers to travel between key transport hubs free of charge.

The service is expected to particularly benefit elderly passengers, women, children, people with disabilities and travellers carrying heavy luggage.

CAAB said the initiative would also help reduce dependence on private vehicles, ease traffic congestion around the airport and promote environmentally friendly transportation.

Speaking at the inauguration, Group Captain Ragib Samad said CAAB has been implementing various passenger-friendly initiatives to improve service standards and ensure world-class facilities at the country's main international airport.

He said the free shuttle bus service would save passengers' time while ensuring safer and more convenient travel.

CAAB reaffirmed its commitment to further improving passenger services under its motto, "Passengers First."

Senior CAAB officials, airport authorities and other stakeholders attended the inauguration ceremony.
