S. M. Lablur Rahman, Member (Administration) of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) and an Additional Secretary to the government, has filed a case alleging the signature fraud and the creation of fabricated documents, including a fake agreement and consent letter bearing his name.
The case was lodged with the Airport Police Station in Dhaka on Monday morning (22 June), seeking legal action against those involved in the alleged document forgery.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Hasan Talukdar of Airport Police Station said the case had been officially recorded and an investigation would proceed in accordance with the law.
According to the complaint, an agreement was allegedly prepared identifying S. M. Lablur Rahman as the first party and one Fahad Hossain as the second party. The document reportedly contained a forged signature purported to be Rahman's and claimed that Fahad Hossain would receive money if Rahman became Chairman of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
The complaint further states that a separate consent letter was also fabricated in the name of the CAAB member, with his signature allegedly forged in a similar manner.
After learning about the existence of the documents, Rahman filed the case, alleging criminal forgery and an attempt to damage his reputation.
“My signature has been forged to create fabricated documents. I would never engage in or be associated with such unethical and reprehensible activities,” Rahman said.
He further alleged that a vested group was behind the incident with the intention of tarnishing his image and professional reputation.
“I have taken legal recourse regarding this matter. I believe the police will conduct a proper investigation and take necessary action against those responsible,” he added.
Police are expected to investigate the allegations, identify those involved in the alleged signature forgery and fake agreement, and determine whether any criminal offences were committed under applicable laws.
