BNP Health
Affairs Secretary Dr Md Rafiqul Islam on Tuesday took necessary steps to admit
the grief-stricken mother of Ramisa, who was raped and killed in Dhaka’s Pallabi
in May, to a specialised multi-disciplinary hospital.
Rafiqul told reporters that he would ensure proper treatment
through a coordinated medical board which would include a psychiatrist, a cardiologist,
a neurologist, and a gastroenterologist.
Ramisa’s mother has still not overcome the grief over the untimely
death and brutal killing of her eight-year-old child. The excessive grief has caused
psychological issues for her and also worsened her pre-existing health
complications: chest pain, vertigo and gastrointestinal problems.
Rafiqul said counselling and mental treatment of Ramisa’s
mother have already begun under the guidance of a psychiatrist and a
psychologist.
The hospital authorities said her health conditions are
currently stable, and added that treatment would begin only after necessary diagnostic
tests are completed.
