The
government deployed personnel from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in
different parts of the capital on Tuesday, a day after BGB troops were deployed
to five other districts in anticipation of sabotage acts by the banned Awami League.
BGB
personnel are actively assisting other law enforcement agencies in Dhanmondi,
Shahbagh, Gulistan’s Abrar Fahad Avenue (formerly Bangabandhu Avenue), Bangla
Motor, Kawran Bazar, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Mohakhali and other parts of the
capital, the force said in a press release on Tuesday.
According to intelligence reports, Awami League, a banned political party, is planning major subversive activities in different parts of the country ahead of its founding anniversary on 23 June.
To counter the threats, on Monday, BGB
personnel were deployed to Cox’s Bazar, Madaripur, Sherpur, Gazipur and
Moulvibazar.
They would remain active in the districts
till 30 June.
