Govt not satisfied with Ad-din Hospital response over newborn deaths: Health minister

The government is not satisfied with the explanation submitted by Ad-din Hospital regarding the deaths of six newborns, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has said.

Speaking at a briefing on Wednesday, the minister said the five-page reply provided by the hospital in response to a show-cause notice was unclear and failed to adequately address the incident.

He added that the authorities would not show any leniency in the matter and that further action would be taken soon following discussions at the highest level of the government.

Earlier, on 4 June, the health ministry issued a show-cause notice to Ad-din Hospital over the deaths of six newborns. The hospital authorities subsequently submitted their written response.
