Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said it has thwarted 10 separate alleged push-in attempts by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) across different frontier areas over the past 24 hours, while intensifying surveillance and patrol operations to prevent further incidents.

According to a BGB statement issued on Thursday (4 June), push-in attempts were reported along borders in Jhenaidah, Jashore, Joypurhat, Chapainawabganj, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Sylhet and Netrokona. In several cases, BGB patrols, supported by local residents, prevented groups of people from entering Bangladesh and forced them to return to the Indian side.

The force also reported intelligence indicating that several holding centres on the Indian side were accommodating individuals allegedly being prepared for push-in operations.

BGB said it had strengthened monitoring and maintained a high state of alert in vulnerable border sectors.

In one incident in Panchagarh, a person allegedly pushed into Bangladesh was detained by locals and later returned to India following BGB intervention.

Two suspected Indian nationals detained in Sylhet were also repatriated after verification.

BGB reiterated that no individual or group would be allowed to enter Bangladesh illegally and vowed to resist any push-in attempt that violates international border management norms and bilateral understandings.
