Ad-Din Hospital neonatal deaths: Probe report due today

The investigation report into the deaths of six newborns at Ad-Din Hospital in the capital is scheduled to be submitted on Wednesday. The six infants died on 27 May.

Although the probe committee was initially instructed to submit its findings within 72 hours, the deadline was later extended to 3 June.

While the deaths were initially suspected to have been caused by a leakage of air-conditioner gas, the Ministry of Health formed a three-member committee to determine the actual cause. 

The committee was later expanded to include a neurologist, an engineer and several other experts.

Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has said that strict action will be taken against those responsible if the investigation uncovers any evidence of negligence or misconduct in connection with the incident.
