Train services between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed on Friday night, after nearly five hours of suspension following the derailment of an oil-laden freight train in Moulvibazar.
The train movement resumed around 8pm after the derailed wagon was retrieved, confirmed Shamshernagar Station Master Rajat Kumar Roy.
Earlier, rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was disrupted after an empty wagon of the freight train, which was heading to Akhaura from Sylhet, veered off the tracks inside the Lawachhara National Park.
The incident took place around 3:30pm between Bhanugachh and Sreemangal railway stations.
Rajat Kumar said a hydraulic tool van was dispatched to the spot to conduct the recovery operation.
