Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will deploy 16,000 workers and more than 750 waste-carrying vehicles to ensure the swift removal of sacrificial waste during Eid-ul-Azha 2026.
DNCC authorities announced that workers will remain engaged in field-level waste management operations, while trucks will transport sacrificial waste to the Amin Bazar landfill site. The city corporation also aims to remove sacrificial waste within 12 hours on Eid day.
DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan announced the plan on Tuesday at a discussion meeting on Eid waste management held at DNCC Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan.
Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam attended the event as chief guest, while the DNCC administrator chaired the meeting.
Speaking at the programme, the state minister said the prime minister had issued special directives through an inter-ministerial meeting regarding cattle markets, leather management, traffic control and waste disposal activities across the country during Eid-ul-Azha.
He said city corporations received instructions to complete sacrificial waste removal within 12 hours.
“I believe the preparation taken by DNCC will allow authorities to provide residents with a cleaner and more comfortable environment well before the deadline,” he said.
The state minister also urged city residents to cooperate in keeping drainage systems functional to reduce waterlogging during the monsoon season.
He said DNCC had kept Quick Response Teams (QRT) and drainage teams ready to ensure faster water drainage during heavy rainfall.
DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan said authorities had taken all-out preparations to complete sacrificial waste removal ahead of the government deadline.
“We hope to remove sacrificial waste from all DNCC areas before the stipulated timeframe and provide residents with a clean environment during Eid,” he said.
