13-kilometre traffic jam on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway

A nearly 13-kilometre-long traffic jam has formed on the Gazaria section of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Munshiganj.

The congestion began around 4:00 am on Sunday and gradually worsened.

The situation caused significant suffering for passengers and transport drivers.

According to reports, the long tailback developed along the Cumilla-bound lane across the Gazaria stretch of the highway. As a result, goods-laden trucks, long-distance buses, and private vehicles remained stranded at various points for hours.

Regarding the matter, Gazaria Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shah Kamal Akand said the congestion was caused by a road accident in Daudkandi, Cumilla.

He expressed hope that traffic movement would return to normal soon, as efforts are underway to bring the situation under control.
