The
Election Commission (EC) has issued a deadline for 23 political parties,
including the ruling BNP and the opposition bloc's NCP, to submit the records regarding their national election expenses.
The parties
will have to submit the records within 13 June, and separate letters have been
sent to them in this regard, said EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on Tuesday.
The list
includes key BNP allies including Gono Odhikar Parishad, Ganosamhati Andolon,
Biplabi Workers’ Party, as well as the opposition bloc’s National Citizen Party
(NCP), and Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (JAGPA), among others.
It is worth
noting that biggest opposition party Jamaat-e-Islami has already submitted
their election expense records. The national election was held on 12 February.
