Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday instructed the
authorities concerned to quickly repair the roads of Pirojpur district and make
those suitable for vehicular movement.
He issued the directives at a meeting held at the Prime
Minister's Office in the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Sources at the Prime Minister's Office said the meeting
discussed the progress and problems of various development projects being
implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Pirojpur.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the
government is determined to keep the country's road communication system
smooth.
Especially, he said, the roads which have been neglected and
left in a bad condition for a long time should be brought under expeditious
renovation and repair schemes.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for taking quick
initiatives to minimise the suffering of the common people in Pirojpur.
He asked the departments concerned to take immediate
effective steps to this end.

At the time, the Prime Minister put emphasis on ensuring
transparency and accountability in implementation of development projects.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and
Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, Pirojpur-2 lawmaker and State Minister for Public
Works Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, Pirojpur-1 lawmaker Masud Sayedee, Pirojpur-3 lawmaker
Ruhul Amin Dulal and Local Government Division Secretary Shahidul Hassan were
