Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir said on Wednesday that technology-led policing will ease manual workloads and enhance transparency across law enforcement.

He made the remarks while inaugurating an AI-based traffic enforcement system alongside nine new digital platforms introduced by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at its headquarters.

The new systems are designed to modernise policing, traffic management and public services through digital tools and artificial intelligence.

Addressing the event, the IGP emphasised the importance of expanding technology-driven policing to improve public safety, strengthen traffic control and accelerate service delivery.

He noted that wider use of digital systems would ensure quicker responses and more effective monitoring.

He added that automation would reduce administrative burdens while improving transparency in both operational and management processes.

The platforms launched include an AI-based Road Transport Act violation detection system, a hotel boarder information system, the Hello DMP app, an online training system, a residence allocation system, a leave management system, traffic duty distribution software, employee performance evaluation software and a traffic news archive.

Officials said the AI system is already active at 25 key traffic points in Dhaka, with plans for further expansion.
