A seven-year-old child died during a surgery at a private hospital in Kushtia on Monday.
Police said the child, Tasfia Afrin, broke her arm after falling from the stairs at her home a few days ago. She was admitted to the hospital, Ekota Private Hospital, and taken to the operation theatre on Monday evening for surgery, where she died.
Family members alleged that the child died shortly after doctors administered anesthesia, claiming medical negligence or improper administration of anesthesia as the cause of death.
On the other hand, doctors claim that the child may have died due to sudden cardiac complications.
After the death, the child's relatives vandalised the hospital. Later, police and army officials arrived, brought the situation under control, and took two on-duty doctors into police custody.
Police stated that the investigation is underway and necessary actions will be taken, adding that the family has yet to file any complaint.
